The only problem is that the head form is super dinky and makes the earrings look huge. I can put a bracelet around the display’s neck LOL!  Ah well… they’re still awesome and my pictures look way better than the did before so I’m happy! More to come :-)

I’m doing some website updates and I’ll also be updating my store but that cute little fella on the left makes things a little slow going so pardon the mess. I’ve got more pictures to add of my chainmaille, paracord (new colors!) and copper trees and I’ll also be adding a section for my craft show partner, Kerr Ranch Arts & Crafts, so stay tuned!

You know… the whole “Big Bad” and all?) as if it were any normal day. However, it was NOT a normal day… I attended a beaded jewelry making class. (Okay quit laughing! It’s a big deal for me!) I’ve never attended a jewelry class before so I didn’t know what to expect… and being “Rapture Day” and all it could have very well been just an elaborate scheme to get innocent jewelry makers out of their houses so that their brains could be eaten by Zombies! (Hey! It could happen!)

I almost never go anywhere. There’s been a total of three (?) times that I have been away from my 2 year old for more than just a 20 minute run up the road to the country store for milk. Last Saturday makes four. I admit part of me wanted to go just to get a break from the kiddo as I’m really more of the “homebody” type, but, the other part of me was actually looking forward to getting out, meeting some new people and learning some new jewelry techniques.

So off I went and because of traffic I was 20 minutes late. Nice first impression, eh? The group didn’t seem to mind so I introduced myself and “set up camp” in an empty spot at the crafting table. There were beads and beaded creations EVERYWHERE. It was awesome. The class hostess then got us started on our projects and we beaded and chatted away. Creations got passed here and there for everyone to see, suggestions were made, ideas were formed and then I got stuck.

Crimp Beads. I didn’t have any, or know how to use them… and of course I was the ONLY person suffering from this dilemma. Crimp beads are a little metal tube that you “squish” with a crimping tool to hold on to the ends of your bead wire so that you can attach a clasp and keep your beads from failing off. They’re not something I usually have to worry about when working with chainmaille. Luckily I had good company and I was quickly shown how to work with the little buggers and was given several to finish my project.

And of course nothing good can ever go smoothly, so I got stuck in traffic for about 30 minutes again on the way home and scared my husband half to death because he had been texting me and I didn’t know it so I never responded… for all he knew the Zombies had me! (Hey!! What did I tell you? It COULD happen!) For a first time beading project I think I did pretty good, and now I’m hooked. All I need is to get some more beads and some crimping tools and I’ll be all set!

Several ounces of tiny little jump rings in about 12 or so different gauges and diameters… Nearly all of which are considered “micro maille” size to the chainmailler community. Yeah. Small. All in a pile… complete with dog & cat fur and whatever other loose dust and dirt that didn’t make it into the dust pan. Thank the Gods they were all steel and not gold or silver…. though I sorta wish they had been different colored anodized aluminum… would have been easier to sort.

It’s April now. I finally finished sorting them. It’s time to weave.

I’m also waiting on a new shipment of Sterling Silver and Anodized Niobium jump rings to come in. I can’t wait to get started on some new projects I’ve been thinking on for a few days. I’m hoping to get some new items made so that I can take more pictures this weekend!

Having virtually no materials to work with and no means of acquiring new material I went with a diaper box and construction paper. It looks like something out of a kindergarten science project… do kindergartners have science projects?… but IT WORKED!

This afternoon I will be working on getting the pictures cropped and re-sized for web compatibility and tomorrow we should have some new pictures.

I appreciate the patience of everyone who has dropped by my site during it’s reconstruction and I apologize for not having it up and running at 100%. My specialty is making jewelry, not web design! :-)
